Winter Outfits You’ll Have on Rotation in 2019

Winter is upon us (well, sorta - it’s still around 20 degrees outside) and it’s kind of exciting to get our sweaters and pullovers out of the closet where they’ve been waiting for a long while now. So it might take a little while longer before we get to bundle up in winter fashion, but there’s no time like the present to start preparing, right? For me, looking up the different trends and deciding which ones speak to me and which one do not (cherry pick; quality over quantity!) is all part of the fun.

A few trends you’ll see passing this winter are

  • Prints: animals, checks and so on, but specifically leopard

  • Full coverage: no piece of skin left exposed

  • Supersized coats

  • Citrus tones (mellow yellow, orange, green)

  • Utilitarian, specifically boots

  • Totes are back

  • Feminine details

  • Baby blues

  • Soft cut suits

  • Neutral tones

  • Texture clash

  • Massive dresses

  • Corduroy

Out of this massive list of trends (this probably is about half of the final list), I’ve cherry picked some of my absolute favourites so I can share some winter outfits inspiration.

2 Winter Outfits You’ll Want to Wear Over & Over Again

Soft Place To Start

Winter Outfits On Rotation In 2019

A great place to start is your key item: a leopard printed midi skirt. It’s versatile, it’s classy, and it’s not only on trend - it’s here to stay. So if you’re hesitant whether to invest in a good midi skirt, this is your sign to do it.

With this outfit I’ve gone soft. Lines, colours and materials, perfect for winter. A turtleneck oversized sweater is a must winter item, and this powdery pink fits perfectly into winter 2019’s colour palette.

Another big YES this winter is a fluffy oversized coat. Whether you go for fluff or teddy coat this winter - make sure it’s one of these two. They’re warm, snuggly and are compatible with truly any outfit you’ve got hanging in your closet.

If you don’t already own a pair of black, leather ankle boots… I’m not sure what to say. Please, for the love of god, go find a pair you love. You’ll see your winter outfits will change instantly - to a more upgraded, mature look.

Lastly - the tote. I’m glad it’s back, I wasn’t so much into this mini bags trend… there’s only so much you can fit into small bags and let’s be honest, we need loads of random stuff in our bag. I might not use it now, but I’ll use it some day (I think).

Walking On the Masculine/Feminine Line

Winter Outfits on Rotation In 2019

If you’re not much of the feminine styling, I’ve got another option for you. Suits have been everywhere on the runway the past couple of seasons and they’re not going away any time soon. This season though, opt for a more relaxed fit that lets you play with your feminine shapes.

The past two seasons or so we’ve seen a massive flashback to the ‘80s and the ‘90s, and now, we welcome one of the most popular fabrics of the ‘90s back into our midst - corduroy has returned! It doesn’t matter what item of this fabric you choose: a blazer, a pant, a shirt or your coat, it’s all on trend.

As stated previously, we’re going to see utilitarity take over a huge part of our wardrobe this winter. If you’re not much into sharp cut lines, an easy way to incorporate this trend into your wardrobe is by a pair of lace-up boots. Keeps you warm & badass at the same time.

Let me know in the comments below which one of these winter outfits is your favourite, or how you plan to style this winter’s trends!
